Welcome to The Reel Symphony Fishing Charters. I am Captain John and I hope to be taking you on an experience of a lifetime through the Mosquito Lagoon and the Indian River North Lagoons. I am a licensed captain with the U.S. Coast Guard and possess all the adequate insurance and licensing required to charter in the state of Florida.
About me: I have been fishing all over Florida since my dad had me on the boat at age four. I have fished Mosquito Lagoon and Indian Rivers for the last ten of my years. My primary targets have are Red Fish, Sea Trout, Black Drum and Snook. I have made Sea Trout and Red Fish my main targets on skinny flats and if I had a specialty, I would say they are it. My biggest passion is chasing world class “Gator” Trout in the thin waters of the Lagoon with artificial lures. I also love sight fishing reds as a close second.
About the Mosquito Lagoon: No where else in the world will you find as many square acres of skinny flats holding Red Fish and Sea Trout. The average depth of the lagoon is only 3’. The Lagoon has almost no tidal flow and the fish that claim this area as home do not move out to the ocean to spawn like Red Fish and Trout in other areas. They are almost totally landlocked. This larger class of fish stay in the Lagoon year round giving any bite on any day the potential to be a real trophy.
About your experience: Tell me what you want and I will accommodate you to the best of my ability. You are paying for an experience, not just fish. Tell me what you want most to take away from the experience. Do you want to learn more about fishing with artificials? More about live bait? About Red Fish and Trout patterns? How to sight fish? How to become more skilled with casting or spinning equipment? Just want to learn the area so you can fish it on your own? Let me know and I can make sure you take away the most from our adventure as possible.
The Boat: The Reel Symphony is a 19’ Bossman Karma powered by a 25HP Suzuki four stroke. Top speed has her cruising around 26mph. Fully loaded, she drafts about 7” and can run through water so skinny it will scare you.
What to bring: A good pair of sun glasses is a must (I can’t stress this enough), poncho/rain gear in case of sudden showers or rough water conditions, sunblock and appropriate clothing for the time of year. If you have fishing equipment you really want to use, feel free to bring it along.
What I provide: Aboard the boat will be all of the equipment needed to fish and keep what you may want to harvest: rods, reels, cooler with ice, water, bait, bags for fillets, and all tackle we will need for a successful day on the water.
